About

The Eyelashes dataset is the first publicly available dataset of 3D eyelashes containing a total of 56 subjects.

The dataset is intended to be used for evaluation, validation, or training models to predict eyelashes information on images, meshes, texts or videos. A detailed description of the dataset can be found on our Data Description page. The license conditions are mentioned on the Download page.

Citing the Eyelashes dataset

It would be highly appreciated if this use was shared with Interdigital, at this address: eyelashesdataset@interdigital.com, with “Eyelashes” in the subject of your email.

Description

The Eyelashes Dataset contains 56 subjects. Each subject is composed by:

  • the left-side face skin mesh (untextured)
  • the eyeball (untextured)
  • the reconstructed eyelashes as points
  • the eyelash colors for each point
  • the eyelash radii for each point
  • implantation area vertex mask
  • implantation area uv parameterization

(Textures have been removed for GDPR reasons)

We leveraged the dataset of posed eyes built by Kerbiriou et al. [KADM22], containing more than 2k eye region scans among 57 volunteers (41 males and 16 females from 21 to 67 years old). Each eye region is reconstructed using photogrammetry from 12 views and registered with a template mesh. For each volunteer, 36 eye poses (9 different gaze angles combined with 4 different eye apertures) are reconstructed allowing for geometrically accurate rigging by tri-linear interpolation (horizontal gaze angle, vertical gaze angle and eye aperture). In this work, only the neutral eye pose is considered which corresponds to forward gaze and eye normally open. The neutral pose contains indeed enough information about eyelashes since they move rigidly with their attachment point due to their small length. Both images and 3D information are used to reconstruct the eyelashes.
