InterDigital is powered by innovation and the expertise of our engineers and inventors who address some of industry’s most complex challenges to empower new modes and depths of communication. We take great pride in the leadership of our world-class researchers within standards and pre-standards bodies like 3GPP, ETSI, Next G Alliance, and 6G-IA, and our engineers’ expertise spans across industry to guide our understanding, adoption, and even regulation, of the connected technologies we all depend upon.
Today, we congratulate Alain Mourad on his selection to serve on the UK Expert Working Group on Wireless Technologies. Alain is head of InterDigital’s Wireless Lab Europe and a revered advocate for 6G road mapping efforts in Europe and the UK, and this new role will lean upon his long career of innovation and wireless expertise to guide the UK government’s understanding and approach to technology evolution.
Established by the UK Telecoms Innovation Network (UKTIN), which commits to bring together industry, academia, and government to drive telecoms R&D investment and opportunities in the UK, the Wireless Networking Technologies Expert Working Group is comprised of experts from across industry who are selected to help shape and inform wireless capacity building and UK government policy and regulations on these critical topics.
Contributing as an expert alongside five other UK industry leaders, Alain will collaborate with the group to assess the UK’s preparedness for wireless evolution, including identifying areas of strength and barriers to growth and developing a roadmap for future 6G success. Kicking off in July 2023, the group has committed to exploring topics like 6G, AI and automation, spectrum management, the trend towards higher frequencies, and standards, and their collective expertise will be published in a white paper at the end of the year.
Alain’s leadership and expertise is recognized across InterDigital, but it is further validated by peers and partners across industry through expert appointments like this. We congratulate and encourage him as he continues a path of positive engagement and lasting impact on the UK, European, and our global wireless ecosystem.
