How will Open Source play a role in the evolving 5G ecosystem?
Open source is reshaping technology adoption and is a critical driver for the transformation taking place in many industries. The emergence of SDN and NFV has fueled the growth of cloud-based services, and now with the convergence of information technology (IT) and communication technology (CT) the telecommunication industry is changing as well. Widespread adoption of open source projects such as the OpenAirInterface Software Alliance (OSA) and O-RAN Alliance are now transforming the RAN. We’ll explore the role of open source in U.S. and European testbeds and its potential transformational impact on SDO, telecom business models and 5G innovation.
