LIREN CHEN is the President and Chief Executive Officer and a member of the board of directors of InterDigital, Inc., a global research and development company focused primarily on wireless, video, artificial intelligence, and related technologies. InterDigital’s foundational technologies are widely adopted in billions of smartphones, digital TVs, IoT devices, and many cloud-based services. Founded in 1972, InterDigital is listed on Nasdaq. Mr. Chen is a member of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce China Advisory Committee and a board member of Arrow Electronics, a Fortune 500 company.
Prior to joining InterDigital, Mr. Chen served in roles of increasing responsibility at Qualcomm Incorporated for almost 25 years, culminating in his appointment as Senior Vice President, Global Head of IP, Legal Counsel. In that role, Mr. Chen oversaw Qualcomm’s worldwide intellectual property portfolio and led technology, business strategy, product management, and global eco-system development for Qualcomm Technology Licensing.
Mr. Chen holds a Bachelor’s degree in Automation from Tsinghua University, Beijing; a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maine; a Master of Business Administration degree from San Diego State University; and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of San Diego. Mr. Chen is a licensed member of the California Bar. He is an inventor and holds 28 granted patents in the US and over 120 granted patents worldwide.
