  • Enabling Energy-Efficient Wireless Communications: As we work on cutting-edge wireless innovation and new connectivity capabilities in 6G, our research in net-zero communication enables devices to harvest power from their local environment and eliminates the need for conventional batteries, while opening the door for new applications in low-power environments.

  • Improving Reliability and Connectivity: Our research in sidelink communication and innovation around AI-powered federated learning (FL) address complex challenges to reduce network dependency and power usage and allow for more seamless connectivity in low-coverage areas and new opportunities for autonomous vehicles and remote healthcare applications.

  • Pioneering More Sustainable Media: As TVs account for roughly 67% of energy consumption across video entertainment devices, InterDigital’s award-winning Pixel Value Reduction (PVR) solution helps optimize the brightness of pixels on a device display to reduce energy consumption without compromising the perceived video quality. By applying AI expertise to InterDigital’s Deep PVR solution, devices can achieve a reduction of up to 15% in a display’s power consumption, which becomes exponentially significant if applied across billions of displays worldwide.

  • Maintaining Standards Leadership for a Greener Industry: From leadership roles in pre-standards and standards bodies like ETSI, ATIS, 3GPP, MPEG, and SMPTE, our engineers bolster their sustainable innovations with advocacy and leadership in standards and pre-standards bodies that promote energy efficiency in both wireless and video technologies.
