Eeva Hakoranta recognized among IP’s most influential
InterDigital’s Chief Licensing Officer Eeva Hakoranta was recently recognized among the 50 most influential people in IP by Managing IP.
Eeva’s inclusion comes as a result of her contributions in the FRAND space and not only reflects the success she’s had as the head of InterDigital’s licensing business but also the success of the company as a whole.
Among the highlights from 2024 that MIP mentions, Eeva led the team which negotiated a new license with OPPO Group, meaning that InterDigital now has the top four smartphone manufacturers under license. She also helped drive our negotiations with Lenovo over a license into binding arbitration, bringing an end to all litigation between InterDigital and Lenovo. Throughout her career she has been a strong advocate for resolving FRAND related disputes in arbitration and firmly believes in good faith bilateral negotiations and industry-led solutions providing the best practice in the field.
Since Eeva joined InterDigital in 2020, our licensing team has signed more than 40 new bilateral agreements, with the vast majority agreed to without any litigation. These have included, among others, new licenses with Apple, Samsung (for digital TVs and mobile), Xiaomi, OPPO and Google. We have also joined the new 5G automotive pool operated by Avanci and grown our licensing programs outside of our smartphone core, namely consumer electronics and IoT.
Under Eeva’s guidance the licensing team has expanded its footprint to include specialists in video services and a new team in Beijing.
Among the others included in MIP’s top 50 are U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts, California Governor Gavin Newsom, and Lord Justice Richard Arnold from England and Wales Court of Appeal.
Earlier this year Eeva was also once again recognized by IAM as one of their top 40 market makers.
