Addressing a room full of senior executives from across the wireless ecosystem, Alan summarized the key findings of the company's Vision 2020 project in his aptly-titled presentation: "Towards the Personal Ultra Broadband Era".

The Vision 2020 project builds on the premise that re-imagination... of our wireless world...our physical experiences...our digital economy...is the driving force of innovation today. The pursuit of realizing these "new experiences” will push broadband needs to new levels, leading to a bandwidth crunch that will require an ever more complex and “meshy” network of networks.

Alan went on to say that two tech trends will perhaps shape our wireless future more than any:

1. The relentless move to small and smaller cell technologies and deployments that will create a world of ubiquitous connectivity asset availability.

2. The Cloud, or increasingly pervasive sharing technology - already commonplace in the computing industry, but telecom and wireless are playing catch-up.

When putting it all together, a vision emerges of a wireless world that opportunistically and seamlessly leverages any access resource, any spectrum resource, and any device resource.
