The Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers’ (SCTE) Digital Video Subcommittee recently established a new working group, “Next Generation Systems,” and an InterDigital senior manager was named co-chair.  SCTE serves as the technical and applied science leader for the cable telecommunications industry and is the premier membership organization for technical cable telecommunications professionals.

The SCTE Digital Video Subcommittee identifies requirements and develops standards for the design and operation of systems for delivery of video, audio, and associated data for the cable industry.  The subcommittee features multiple working groups focused on areas that include video and audio services, stereoscopic, DASH, network architecture and management among others.

The purpose for the creation of the Next Generation Systems working group is to look for new technologies and new areas that may provide value to the North American cable industry. The group will be lead by co-chairs Alex Giladi, Video Software Architect of InterDigital and Yasser Syed, Distinguished Engineer of Comcast. Alex leads adaptive streaming interoperability and standardization projects, projects related to MPEG Systems in MPEG and is involved in DASH Industry Forum. His role in SCTE underscores InterDigital’s involvement at the forefront of the evolution of broadband video technologies.
