InterDigital’s Jim Miller talks LTE unlicensed and Wi-Fi with Senza Fili

<p>The next major shift in mobile broadband &ndash; 5G &ndash; will enable innovative services through emerging wireless core technologies and a programmable infrastructure designed to meet new requirements. InterDigital&rsquo;s Jim Miller, Director of Radio Standards, recently joined Senza Fili&rsquo;s Monica Paolini to discuss one of the emerging technologies, LAA-LTE.</p>
<p>The article based on the conversation is titled &ldquo;Fairness to Wi-Fi is Crucial to LTE Unlicensed&rsquo;s Success,&rdquo; and focuses on the evolution of the role of LTE unlicensed, Wi-Fi and their coexistence. Jim also discussed InterDigital&rsquo;s LAA-LTE standardization efforts that are focused on 3GPP and current solutions, such as the<a href="../../../solutions/smart-access-manager"> Smart Access Manager</a>, that provide the company with a good vantage point to assess the potential of LAA-LTE.</p>
<p>The interview will serve as a background for the upcoming report, &ndash; &ldquo;LTE Unlicensed and Wi-Fi: Moving Beyond Coexistence&rdquo; &ndash; being produced by Senza Fili in collaboration with RCR wireless and set to be released on May 12, 2015. In addition, XCellAir, Ruckus Wireless, Qualcomm, Cisco, Alcatel-Lucent and Wi-Fi Alliance among other industry experts participated in interviews that helped drive the report.</p>
