At MWC 2024, Valérie Allié, InterDigital’s Video Solutions Group Lead took audiences on a journey to experience the exciting potential and necessary pathway towards distributing video experiences enhanced with haptics and the sense of touch.

The innovation we lead at InterDigital today empowers incredible opportunity for the future, and during her presentation, Valérie revealed the “magic” of our video streaming innovation and contributions to MPEG standards that unlocks new potential for haptic-enhanced and immersive communications.

As we continue the evolution of video communication, from 2D to 3D and towards increasingly immersive and haptic-enhanced content, Valérie points to the critical importance of collaboration between haptics-enabling device makers, immersive and volumetric video content creators, and industry standards that define the delivery of this new communication modality to wide audiences.

At InterDigital, we are proud to be at the forefront of creating and contributing to a new MPEG Haptic standard that will outline how to create, stream, and render haptic content and unlock new possibilities in haptic-enhanced content sharing.

The “magic” of this new haptic standard and our contributions to it will enable exciting new opportunities, empowering creatives to enrich their content with new depths of immersion, device makers to improve seamless haptic capabilities within their products, and content providers to enhance the distribution of large-scale consumer experiences with exciting new sensations.
